Is the glass bridge inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park?

No. The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and its glass bridge are in Cili County, outside the Wulingyuan scenic area, and administratively separate from the national forest park. The park entry ticket is not valid here and there is no combined ticket. It is a separate trip on a separate day.

How much does the glass bridge cost?

Admission to the Grand Canyon is a government-set price and is shown on glass bridge tickets . Walking the bridge is charged separately, and we could not confirm that fee from a current official source, so we do not quote a figure for it. The reasons are set out on the ticket page.

Is this the same as the glass walkway on Tianmen Mountain?

No. Tianmen Mountain has short glass-floored sections built into walkways along its summit cliffs. This is a suspension bridge across a canyon, in a different county, run by a different operator, on a different ticket. Photographs of the two are used interchangeably online, which is how people book the wrong one.

Can I walk the canyon without going on the bridge?

Yes. The canyon route and the bridge crossing are sold separately, so the canyon can be visited on admission alone. The reverse is not true — the bridge is reached through the scenic area, so it always comes on top of admission rather than instead of it.

How long does a visit take?

Plan a half to full day including the journey, since the canyon is a separate trip from Wulingyuan rather than a stop inside the park. The walking route through the gorge is the part that takes time; the bridge crossing itself is short.

One scenic area, two things to do in it

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a gorge with a walking route through it. The glass bridge is a suspension span strung across the top of that gorge. They belong to the same scenic area and are usually spoken about as one attraction, but they are sold as two, and that is the first thing to get straight.

The canyon route runs down into the gorge and along it — steps, water, cliff on both sides. It is a walk rather than a viewpoint, and it is the part of the visit that takes real time. A lift inside the canyon is charged on top of admission for anyone who does not want to make the climb under their own power.

The bridge is the reason most people come. It crosses the canyon high above the walking route, with a transparent deck along the middle of the span. Crossing it is a separate charge from entering the scenic area.

The park ticket does not work here

This is the confusion that costs money. The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is in Cili County, outside Wulingyuan and outside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It is a different administrative area with a different operator.

What follows from that:

The forest park entry ticket is not valid at the canyon. There is no combined ticket, no upgrade and no discount for holding one.
The park shuttle bus network does not reach it. Getting here is a separate journey, arranged separately, and it is not a detour you can slot into a day inside the park.
It needs its own slot in the itinerary. Treat it the way you would treat Tianmen Mountain: a distinct destination with its own travel time, not a stop.

Booking sites that group everything under “Zhangjiajie” obscure this, and itineraries that promise the park and the bridge in one day are promising a lot of driving.

The figures everyone quotes, and why they are not here

Every guide gives the bridge a length, a width and a height above the canyon floor, and the same three numbers appear everywhere, including in retellings on government portals. We do not print them.

The operator’s own site returns a server error, and no primary official document carrying those dimensions was reachable when the facts panel behind this page was compiled. For a structure whose entire appeal is how high up you are standing, taking the height from a travel blog is not a small liberty — it is the one number the page exists to state, sourced from the weakest possible place.

So the facts panel says the dimensions are not confirmed by an official source, rather than repeating a figure with a confidence nobody has earned. When a primary source becomes reachable, the numbers appear here and on every other language version of this page at the same time, because they live in one data file rather than in the prose.

This is not a suggestion that the bridge is smaller than claimed. It is very high and very long. We simply will not tell you exactly how high on the strength of what other sites have copied from each other.

Not the glass walkways on Tianmen Mountain

Two different glass attractions exist in Zhangjiajie prefecture, and they are routinely mixed up:

If a listing says “glass bridge”, it means this canyon. If it says “skywalk”, “glass walkway” or “Coiling Dragon Cliff”, it means Tianmen Mountain. Neither ticket is valid for the other, and the two are on opposite sides of the region.

Planning the visit

The bridge is exposed and the canyon is a working walking route, so both are weather-dependent in a way that a viewpoint is not. Numbers are limited on the deck at busy times, and the scenic area manages flow across the span rather than letting it fill up.
