ZhangjiajiePark.com is an independent travel guide to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Wulingyuan and the surrounding scenic areas of Hunan Province.

We are not affiliated with Zhangjiajie National Forest Park or with any government tourism authority. We do not sell tickets, we are not an agency, and nothing on this site is an official notice.

Why this site exists

Because the Zhangjiajie information in circulation is unusually bad, in a specific and fixable way: it is copied.

The clearest example is the fare for the Bailong Elevator. Search for it and you will get one figure with great confidence, in guide after guide. The scenic area’s own page gives a different one. The number everybody quotes belongs to a neighbouring cable car, and it has been passed from site to site until it became consensus. Nobody checked, because everybody had a source — each other.

The same pattern applies to the park entry price. At the start of 2025 the ticket was split in two: admission, and admission with the shuttle buses. Most published advice still quotes the price of the first and describes the experience of the second — which matters, because the park cannot be crossed on foot.

How we work

Official sources first. Prices come from the scenic area authority and from the provincial and municipal price decisions that set them. Transport figures come from the district’s own transport pages. Visa rules come from the National Immigration Administration and from government announcements. Where an operator is the authority — an airport, a railway, a cable car — we use the operator.

Every number carries a date. Not the date we last edited the page: the date we last checked the fact against its source. Those are different events, and merging them is how a site ends up saying “updated yesterday” above a three-year-old price.

Blanks stay blank. This is the part that will look like a shortcoming and is not. Where we could not confirm a figure officially, we say so instead of printing the one that circulates:

• The Tianmen Mountain through ticket — the operator’s site is unreachable from here and the municipal price documents do not resolve. There is also a section of the cable car under reconstruction, so the fare is in flux.
• The glass bridge fee — the last officially traceable decision is a trial price from 2016, extended by a chain of documents we cannot open.
• Opening hours for the scenic areas — no year-round times are published at all. The only hours announced in advance are holiday adjustments. The times you will see quoted everywhere are retellings of those notices.
• Month-by-month climate figures — no source we are prepared to cite.

We keep a record of what is unconfirmed and why, and we would rather show you a gap than a plausible number.

Where sources disagree, we say which we took and why. The official page for one cable car gives two different lengths in adjacent paragraphs. The provincial catalogue of regulated prices and a later notice give two different Tianmen admission prices — the catalogue was simply out of date. Those choices are recorded rather than silently resolved.

What we do not do

• We do not invent authors, visits or photographs. There is no fictional local expert on this site and no claimed personal experience that did not happen.
• We do not invent prices. If a price is variable or unconfirmed, the page says so and points you at live availability instead of a made-up figure.
• We do not present ourselves as official. The disclaimer at the foot of every page is there because the distinction matters.
• We do not machine-translate in bulk. This site is published in several languages; the pages where the answer depends on where you are travelling from are rewritten for each market rather than translated.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know, and “wrong” includes out of date. Prices are reset by government decision, cable cars close for reconstruction, and visa schemes are renewed a year at a time. A guide to this region is never finished; it is only more or less recently checked.

How this site is paid for

Some links to booking platforms are affiliate links, and a booking made through one may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. That relationship never decides what a page says — admissions here are regulated tariffs, identical whoever sells them, so there is nothing to gain by shading the facts.
